Lavender light on still water, and lilies gathering in green islands of pink and gold. Short, broken strokes let the pond shimmer the way it does at first light: a quiet nod to Giverny.

A botanical study of the golden champak, its petals loosening from the stem while the buds stay tightly wrapped in green. A flower loved across India for its scent, painted with a botanist's patience.

A painter of small, quiet things
Rashmi Anchan paints in acrylic and watercolour, mostly at an intimate scale, where a painting can be held in two hands.
The subjects are the ones that ask to be looked at twice: a sparrow among camellias, a cat dressed for an occasion, lilies drifting on still water, a valley filling with mist, a woman carrying water home. Colour comes first, then patience. Every square of gingham, every petal and every pine is set down by hand.
